Charter bus booking sites compared: price, deposit, refunds

Each company quoted from its own website, with the date we read it. We sell a competing service, and we say where the others fit better.

On 2026-09-26 we tried to read the websites of 17 national charter bus booking sites and bus companies; 15 loaded. BusBank publishes broad class ranges before you enter a trip. The others show a price only after you submit trip details, use a quote tool, or call. None of those public figures is a confirmed full total for a trip through us. The useful comparison here is how each site gets a quote and what its published cancellation terms say.

We sell a competing service, so read this page with that in mind. Every fact about another company below is quoted from its own website on the date shown, and each section says where that company is the better choice.

Which sites show a price, and what do they ask up front?

"Not found" means we did not find it on the pages we read, not that the company has no terms. Ask for them in writing before you pay.

How do cancellation terms differ?

For a one-vehicle trip booked 45 days ahead and cancelled 20 days before service, the published terms differ sharply. Check the terms on your own written quote before paying:

The pattern: five of these companies turn their terms at 30 days, and Metropolitan Shuttle and National Charter Bus also take the balance 30 days out (as does Shofur, whose terms turn at 14), so a cancellation inside that line can cost the whole trip. If your date or headcount might move, the cancellation clause is worth more than a small difference in price. Which one fits your trip?

  • Several buses, several days, or a school or recurring contract: a network such as CharterUP, National Charter Bus, GOGO Charters, Shofur, US Coachways or charterDASH is built for it.
  • You want a number before you talk to anyone: BusBank's published class ranges, or a quote tool (Buster, Shofur, Price4Limo, US Coachways) once you enter the trip.
  • A company program across many cities: Swoop or Metropolitan Shuttle, which assign an account team.
  • A regional bus company: Academy Bus on the East Coast, which states it has "1100+ buses"; Champion Coach in the Southeast; Champion Charter Bus in the West.
  • A party bus: of these, Price4Limo and Metropolitan Shuttle list party buses.
  • One vehicle with a driver in one of our ten metros: that is what we do. We show a price range on screen for most party bus and group charter requests before asking for contact details, and confirm the operator and the total before you pay. Our own terms are on the cancellation page. We do not sell multi-vehicle, multi-day or interstate trips, so the companies above are the better choice for those.

Company notes

CharterUP

"700+ Bus Companies," "135+ Cities Nationwide" and "10,000+ Buses" on its home page; the price appears after the quote form ("Get a Free Quote Now!"). Its transportation terms spell out each window: fully refundable 30 or more days out, a 10% charge from 29 days to 72 hours, 100% inside 72 hours, and full payment due 14 days before the trip. Better fit than us for multi-vehicle and multi-city trips.

BusBank

"A charter bus platform that partners with 2,000+ fully licensed and insured bus operators." It publishes broad class ranges on its home page, but a trip's own vehicle, hours, route, and fees decide the final total. Free cancellation is stated as available "up until 30 days before your trip."

Buster

"Real prices. Real buses. Book in under a minute," with "2,000+ vetted operators"; prices appear once you enter a trip. Its home page carries two different cancellation lines, one offering free cancellation until 31 days before the trip and another until a week before, so ask which one your booking gets and keep it in writing.

charterDASH

"Sends qualified, ready-to-book group trips to vetted motorcoach operators," with "120+ Cities" and "10,000+ Buses" claimed. Its reservation terms are among the clearest: full refund 30 or more days out, 90% to 72 hours, nothing after. "Paying the deposit locks your price."

US Coachways

"Unparalleled access to a vast network of charter bus rental service vendors," with a cost calculator. Its terms increase the cancellation fee as the trip nears. It sells optional cancellation protection with conditions and states refunds "can take up to 120 days to process." Ask for the exact fee and protection terms on your quote.

Metropolitan Shuttle

A "Single-Point Accountability Model" with one account manager, covering "500+ metro areas." Terms: 20% deposit on confirmation, final payment 30 days before service, full refund more than 30 days out and none within 30 days. It also lists party bus rentals.

GOGO Charters

"We have 5,000 transportation options"; quotes by phone. Terms: at least 20% deposit on bookings more than 14 days out, 100% charge within 14 days, and a no-show after 60 minutes of waiting is charged in full.

National Charter Bus

"2000+ transportation options" and a 24-hour team; quotes by phone or form. Terms: 30% deposit more than 30 days out, full payment 30 days before, and "all deposits and other payments are non-refundable except to the extent approved by National Charter Bus in its sole discretion." Its wording is close to GOGO Charters' and Shofur's.

Shofur

"Over 300 cities" and "access to over 3,000 buses," with an instant-price tool. Terms: 30% deposit more than 30 days out, balance 30 days before, payments forfeited if you cancel more than 14 days out and 100% charged within 14 days.

Price4Limo

A marketplace "partnering with more than 5,000 local limousine & bus companies," including party buses. Its FAQ says the quoted price "includes everything you need for your trip" apart from tolls and parking, and that "all payments with Price4Limo are nonrefundable."

Swoop

Its home page says "Not a broker. Not a bus company. A managed transportation partner." Its own terms of service say Swoop "does not provide transportation services and is not a transportation carrier." Suited to a company program across many cities; we found no published trip cancellation terms.

Academy Bus

A bus company with "1100+ buses" and "25 operation centers from Boston to Miami." Its service area is the East Coast. No published prices or cancellation terms on the pages we read.

Champion Charter Bus

Charter rentals "across the Western United States," from "a quick, one-day minibus shuttle" to multi-bus fleets, booked through a 24-hour phone team. No published prices or terms found.

Champion Coach

"Since 1998 ... charter bus transportation across the southeast" from Greenville, South Carolina, naming Atlanta among its cities, with season quotes for sports teams. No published prices or terms found.

Greyhound

Greyhound no longer charters buses. Its group bookings page says "Greyhound and FlixBus has suspended door-to-door charter service," and that group sales are "station to station on our regular schedule service." That suits a group that can ride a scheduled route together; for a private vehicle it is not an option.

Bus.com and Partybus.com

Both sites refused our reads on 2026-09-26, so we make no claim about them. Check their terms directly before paying.

How we compared

  • Each fact comes from the company's own page on 2026-09-26, quoted. A phone number is not evidence that a company has no online booking, and an "instant quote" claim is not a price we saw.
  • We did not submit any quote form, so we hold no price from the companies that require one.
  • We compare what overlaps with our service: one vehicle, one local itinerary. For multi-day and multi-vehicle trips these companies do more than we do.
