Accessible charter bus booking checklist
Party bus by the hour, or a bus with a driver for a local trip, an airport run or an event, in ten US metros.
Price shown before you commit, confirmed before you pay.
Tell the carrier about each boarding, wheelchair, mobility-device, securement, seating, and service-animal need before a vehicle is assigned. Ask for the exact accessible vehicle and features in writing. FMCSA explains that an accessible over-the-road bus can include a lift or other boarding configuration and specific wheelchair securement locations. Do not rely on a generic fleet photo or a salesperson saying the trip is “ADA friendly.”

Questions for the carrier
| Feature or process | Evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Exact vehicle | Vehicle class, accessible configuration, and legal capacity |
| Boarding equipment | Lift, ramp, or other device and its stated operating limits |
| Securement | Number and type of securement positions |
| Equipment readiness | Written confirmation that accessible features will be operational |
| Notice | Deadline the carrier says applies to the request |
| Stops | Confirmation that each loading point is usable by the vehicle and passenger |
| Equivalent service | Written explanation if a different accessible vehicle or arrangement is proposed |
| Day-of failure | Dispatch and replacement plan if equipment is not usable |
FMCSA’s summary says demand-responsive over-the-road bus companies must provide accessible service on 48 hours’ advance notice under the described federal rule. Exact legal application can depend on the operator and vehicle. Give notice as early as possible, but do not turn the federal summary into a blanket rule for every vehicle class or trip.
Day-of boarding check
- Confirm the exact vehicle and accessible features with dispatch.
- Keep the loading area clear and level enough for the carrier’s equipment.
- Allow the confirmed boarding time before the scheduled departure.
- Do not load luggage where it blocks equipment or securement areas.
- Confirm the return stop uses the same accessible plan.
- Record any material difference and contact dispatch before departure.
Limitations
This guide summarizes public federal guidance and is not legal advice. It does not promise that every vehicle class or metro has an accessible vehicle available. GoBussin must confirm the selected vehicle and operator before payment. This page owns the accommodation workflow; bus size by passengers owns general class selection.
